Bunny Wailer AKA ‘Cyber Ras’ just released a 3-CD box set of 50 tracks titled ‘Reincarnated Souls: 50th Anniversary of the Ska, Rocksteady, and Reggae Music’ on the Tads Record label.
“No one has ever done this. These are 50 tracks that have never been heard before…It’s very symbolic and significant to our existence…musically. It’s a very strong album. It’s gonna do excellent, as far as the Grammy awards are concerned. I’m just focusing on making what is good for music for people to ‘full-joy’,” Wailer recently explained to The Jamaica Observer.
The 3-CD set retails for $69.99 and can be purchased through www.ebreggae.com.
Bunny may have the worse looking album covers of any Reggae artist I know.
I’ve read about this upcoming 50 track album early this year, and I also heard a radio interview with Bunny Wailer talking about it.
Looking at the track list at ebreggae.com was a bit disappointing. I have heard almost half of these “never before heard tracks”. I’ve bought everything the man ever released but buying Communication one more time? I don’t know.
2. Peoples Cup (Communication)
3. Unite (Soundcloud)
4. Help Us Jah (Communication)
8. Gully Bank (Ghetto, Track, Lane on Soundcloud)
16. Ghetto Village (Little Ghetto Village on Soundcloud)
17. Vision Land (A Place Called Zion on Soundcloud)
18. Standing Ovation (Communication)
20. Rock Stone (Communication)
21. Against All Odds (Communication)
23. Almighty God Is A Rapper (Communication)
24. Bear The Cross (Communication)
25. Ethiopia (Communication)
26. Reggae Converts (Communication)
28. H.I.M. Disarmament Speech (Communication)
30. Teeny Whoppers (Communication))
31. Stand In Love (Communication) + Cross Culture)
32. Reincarnated Souls (Backheart Man)
33. Burn Down Babylon (Babylon Gone Down on Soundcloud – my guess it’s the same)
34. Dog War (Gumption)
39. High Grade Man (Combination Vol.1 + Rub-A-Dub)
41. A Love I Can Feel (Combination Vol.1 + Rub-A-Dub)
42. Man And Woman ((Combination Vol.1 + Rub-A-Dub)
43. Pack Up You Trouble ((Combination Vol.1 + Rub-A-Dub)
46. Pussy Cat (Sings the Wailers 50th Anniversary)
Judging from the titles there may be a handful of songs that could be rerecordings (Gallang Bad – Galong So?, Let Dem Go – Let Him Go?) but that remains to be heard.
$70 is absurd for this set

I missed some old tracks earlier (new title).
19. Reggae Legend (Legends on Communication)
27. Fire man (Fiya Red on Communication)
29. Easy Rude Boy (Trigger Happy Kid on Communication)
49. Stress (Walk the Proud land remake)
Gallang Bad and Let Dem Go are new (see previous post)
Most of the new tracks are not even reggae in my opinion. Don’t ask me what genre they represent though… I have no clue 🙂
Thanks for this link! I will have to post!
Some tunes were to be on the “Unite” album. ~17 songs from this Reincarnated Souls not issued elsewhere……..
Where Were You and Duppy Gun were issued on a 7 inch vinyl in 2007.. Wish they had made more copies of that 7 inch, harder to find now…
With this new 3 cd / 2 dvd release Bunny states…: As the surviving member of the ‘REINCARNATED SOULS’ known as ‘The Wailers’… “I AM THEREFORE CALLING DEPENDENTLY ON THE UNIVERSAL PLAYERS AND LOVERS OF THIS GREAT REGGAE MUSIC, IN DEFENDING AND SUPPORTING I, BUNNY WAILER ON BEHALF AND IN THE BEST INTEREST OF ALL THE PLAYERS OF REGGAE MUSIC INTERNATIONALLY”…. as stated in the insert of this box set.
Respect and Peace to Ravers readers, Joe B.
Thanks Joe. I knew I had heard Where Were You too but couldn’t find it so I skiped it. I probably have the 7″ here somewhere but haven’t ripped it to mp3 yet. So it’s about half the tracks then which we have heard before.
I found this… I hadn’t read or heard about a Unite album before.

From the song titles there it looks like the album was ready to be released 4 years ago but he waited until now and added like 2 CDs of songs we already have.
Disappointed at the whole thing.
I think the general consensus is that Bunny post Liberation album has underachieved. Maybe the passion and creativity juices are gone?
I think it’s the same with all artists growing old, so that’s just life as it is. Creativity fade with age. But I don’t like the BS surrounding the release of this album. People buying his albums these days are his most loyal fans so who is he trying to fool?
That’s the problem… He’s just mailing it in. Look at the difference of late between jimmy cliff and Bunny? Amazing
Sad as hell.
Max – greetings. Do you have songs (on the Reincarnated Souls album) that you mention were previously available on ‘souncloud’? I believe the web-links for these songs are now dysfunctional. The songs include Unite; Ghetto Track Lane; Little Ghetto Village; A Place Called Zion; Babylon Gone Down; Run Come Rally; A Revolutionary Like Me; The People’s Cup; and Party Dog, Dog War?
I think I have them but I don’t know if I can post them here tho? If you leave your email here I can send a link.
Max, thanks for your prompt response. My e-mail address is: chiwama@hotmail.com
I was eagerly anticipating this and having just seen it on Dub Vendors site in UK at £50. for 3cd and 2 DVD. Very disappointed, whoever is responsible for the pricing is taking a liberty in these austere times. Someone needs to be reminded that reggae is a peoples music made by and for the sufferahs! Not for Bankers! And apparently the DVD’s are not even proper DVD but MP4’s which don’t play on a normal DVD player but only on a computer.
Come on Jah B treat your fans with more respect!
The disappointment is shared by me as well. This is one of the most important musical voices alive today. He knows it, that much is abundantly clear. All the more reason to be saddened. I’m not sure the creative juices have to be flowing to be an archivist for your own music. Set the record straight. I am desperately trying to find copies of Marketplace, Rootsman and Liberation. All disappeared from my collection over the years (the cd cases remain). At least take some time and remaster and reissue the old stuff. I can’t find it anywhere. He was a huge part of music history and he does not have to go out this way.
Thanks for commenting. I have lossless copies of those albums if u need. Raver
Your mention of Rootsman makes me wonder if you have the original Rock ‘n’ Groove LP?
There’s only a few tracks that differ but Rock ‘n’ Groove includes the full disco mixes with dubs. One of the best albums of all time in my mind.
To me the biggest mystery of all with Bunny Wailers releases is that he never reissued this masterpiece of an album on CD. He did release a Rock ‘n’ Groove CD/digital some years ago but once more it was the shortened versions from Rootsman Skanking.
I have a great LP rip of Rock ‘n’ Groove if you need it.
The biggest regret is that Bunny never hooked up with a producer who could maximize his talent.
Absolutely. Rock N Groove is my favorite from Bunny
